How often to change a cat fountain filter

Every 1–2 weeks for the DIANU fountain. Here is how to tell which end of that range you are on.

What shortens the schedule

• More than one cat drinking.
• Hard water, which loads the resin faster.
• Long-haired cats and dusty rooms.
• A fountain near the food bowl.

Signs the filter is done

The water smells or looks cloudy, the flow drops even after you brush the pump, or the sponge is dark and clogged.

Fitting a new one

Soak the cartridge in clean water for 5 minutes, rinse it for 30 seconds, then click it into the holder with a new sponge. Skipping the soak lets carbon dust into the bowl.
